Now, being single is actually on the rise. According to recent statistics, the number of single people in the U.S. is growing faster than the number of married ones. This trend has continued uninterrupted since the 1960’s. As an example, in 2011 an average of 44.1% of the adults in America were single. By 2014, this number jumped to just over 50%. Judsen Culbreth, the author of “The Boomers’ Guide to Online Dating”, reports that 16 million boomers over the age of 50 are single, meaning over 25% of the men and women in that age group.Being single definitely has it’s advantages. Keep reading to discover just six of the simple reasons to celebrate being single.
1 – You don’t have to report to anyone.
No one is keeping tabs on you. No one asking where you are going, what you are doing, or why you are doing something. You can do whatever your heart desires. You have freedom and don’t have to answer to anyone but yourself.
2 – Decorate to your tastes only.
Want to fill your yard with colorful bottle trees? Want to decorate in all pink and purple? As a single, you get to decorate your home and surroundings with all the things you love. Plus, you don’t have to look at some half naked girly poster every time you go to the garage. Decorate to your tastes only and don’t worry about if anyone else likes it. It’s your home, make it please you.
3 – You can eat whatever and whenever you want.
Want to eat Chinese food straight from the carton three nights in a row? Go ahead. Want to lounge on the couch and snack on chips and cheese puffs all day? Sure thing. Want to eat healthier and have grilled chicken breast and broccoli for dinner every night? No one else is complaining. You decide what and when you eat with out worrying about what someone else wants.
4 – You only have to clean up after yourself.
You never have to pick up someone else’s dirty socks that didn’t make it inside the hamper. There are no surprises in the bathroom and no one else’s mess left in the sink. The only dirty dishes are yours. It’s just your mess and you only have to deal with what you left behind.
5 – You pick where to go on vacation.
You get to go where you want without someone complaining about everything because they wanted to go somewhere else. Travel styles can be very different and you get to pick what you are up for without regard to anyone else. Plus, travel for one is cheaper than travel for two so maybe you can swing two vacations this year!
6 – You handle your own money.
You’ll never feel the need to hide a shopping bag or stash those new clothes from Amazon, because no one cares what you buy. Want anothersubscription box? It’s your budget. You decide what you want to buy. Plus, you’ll never see your hard earned money wasted on something you didn’t approve of.
